Do you think the word is getting out in Shepherds Bush that anyone working on gas must be qualified and Gas Safe Registered? I is also vital not to take their word for it. You must check the Gas Safe Register identification card! The Health and Safety Executive seems to be cracking down on this. Recently Duncan Robinson in Reading was prosecuted for installing a boiler incorrectly and putting the lives of his customers at risk. He was not Gas Safe Registered.

It is illegal to work on gas installations and appliances in the UK unless an operative is registered with Gas Safe Register either individually or through a company and holds valid and relevant ACS gas qualifications, which are renewable every 5 years. The ACS exam for gas engineers is thorough and sorts the competent from those that are not. Some engineers leave the trade as they don’t want to update themselves and take the exam every 5 years.
